Subject: Olof Palme (the correct spelling) - about the murder From: Dan Hörning <d91-dho@nada.kth.se> Date: 1996/08/27 Message-Id: <d91-dho.841140848@nada.kth.se> Newsgroups: alt.true-Crime >samos@inforamp.net wrote: >> What is the general consensus a decade after the murder of who killed >> Sweden's prime minister Olaf Palm? >> As far as I can recall no was was ever arrested or charged, and there >> have never been a spate theories or a list of suspects as they were in >> the killings of JFK, Robert kennedy, ML King Jr, etc. jamunro@terranet.ab.ca wrote: > I don't know if he was formally arrested by there was an individual > who was detained for a considerable point in time. Christer Pettersson was arrested in 1988 (two years after the crime was commited) for the murder and convicted in the first court. The judgement was appealed and in the second court (there are three levels of courts in Sweden) Christer Pettersson (a 42 year old alcoholic) was freed of all charges. He later went on to become a celebrity (even appearing nude in Swedish Hustler - that was GROSS!) until he commited some violent crime (I think he beat up some girl) and went to jail again. You don't stay in jail very long in Sweden so he has been coming and going after more violent crimes during the years. He is still quite famous and still considered innocent.
There are a lot of theories about the murder. There is a group of people who meet regularly in Stockholm to discuss the murder. Swedish papers and TV still run programs about the murder or new theories of it.
The last one I saw claimed that Christer Pettersson was indeed the murderer but he intended to kill a drug dealer that had cheated him and that drug dealer just happened to look a lot like Olof Palme and lived close to the murder site.
Personally I think the crime will never be solved.
