1. Latvians "pagan blackmetal" groups BLIZZARD and SKY FORGER are presented in "Undo A Long Glory/ 2" compilation album, distributed by Beverina Productions. Another bands are from Estonai, Lithuania and former USSR countries.
2. The well known "guitar/ underground" group BALOZHU PILNI PAGALMI / "Outdoors filled with dowes" (free translating my) finished working on new album. And the first single appears in radiostations in 1-2 weeks.
3. In the Latvia's small town Cesis 24 april was local "death/ punk" festival with groups BARBAROSSA, PROCESSION, RUSA, MORAL FREE + 4-5 more.
4. The well known composer/ musician/ radio bussinessman Zigmars Liepinsh in august organize up own music festival in 9 days. Each day follows concert in 4 parts. These includes epic drama "Lachplesis"/ "Bear Breaker" what composed 10 years ago and dedicated to Latvia's Independence.
5. In the mid of may there awaits for well known Europe pop act SOULTANS concerts in nighclub "Underground"!!

1. The curious artist Roberts Gobzinsh will release the new album in 9 may. In the same time he organizes up some theater performances!
2. In the 1st may in Riga's club "Maza Gilde/ small Gildia" follows childrens popsongs concert - final competition "Calis / Chicken'98" for Rigas childhood (from 3 years). Latvian's "Chicken" final concert follows in the end of may in Latvia TV.
3. The folk/ rock group GRODI now in studio finished working on his own album what releases at the first dates in june.
4. But..... wery well known electronic "a la DEPECHE MODE" group JUMPRAVA the new album in the "Paltform Rec." label release for 3-4 may.
5. The new (first) CD in late august release pagan/ blackmetal comand SKY FORGER.

HappyDeadMen have *not* split up!
HappyDeadMen was previously reported to have quit by another source
on the net, but this was not quite what had happened with the band.
On the contrary, the band is still alive and well, but are in the
process of changing name, and with that, label as well. Their latest
album "Bullfights Every Sunday" which has only been released in
Japan so far (in February 1997 no less), will finally be released
in Sweden and everywhere else but Japan on Torpedo Records. The
street date is set to May 20th. This will not just be a release of
the same album though - a couple of new extra tracks have been added

Recording, releasing, playing: Barusta
The much hyped (and probably worth it too) band Barusta (Starboy)
have an EP on the way called "The Game". Produced by Ebbot Lundberg
and with a release date of May 13th. June 1st marks the day when the
band enters the studio to record their debut album. A release is set
to August/September. If you're interested in seeing them play live,
you should go to Fritz's Corner in Stockholm on May 2nd, where they
play together with label mates Freinds.

Cinnamon II
Cinnamon (Soap Records) start recording their second album this
summer (in June) and the tentative release is set to "winter".

More bliss from Loudean
Scan-Indie favourites Loudean (Soap Records) release their second
single called "The Best Show" on June 8th - conveniently right
before their appearence at the Hultsfred Festival. The yet unnamed
debut album is scheduled for a release in September.

A second Melony album on the way
Melony (Soap Records) have spent some time recorded a couple of
songs for their upcoming second album. The rest will be recorded
during the summer, and everything should be ready for release
around October.

This Perfect Day in the US
The latest album from This Perfect Day (Soap Records) "C-60"
will be released on Sony/550 Music in the US May 19th. The
single "Could Have Been Friends" has already been released
and reportedly added to a lot of radio playlists.

Primal Music / Monolithic News
The second Monolithic Minds compilation (volume 2) was released last
week, April 22nd, on Primal Music's sublabel Monolithic. Ten tracks
with Swedish drum'n'bass artists Eclectic Bob, Grand Nip, Yoga, Baxter,
Friend, Juicehead, Spinform, Quant, Darchives and Perphane. Note that
Baxter and Yoga are primarily (pun intended) signed to the Primal
Music label and that Spinform are signed to RUC (Recordings Under
Construction). Baxter (the two Eclectic Bob guys Ricky Tillblad and
Carl Herlofsson together with Salt/Grand Tone Music and Sin-all-time-
favourite-singer Nina Ramsby) contributes with an instrumental remix
of one of their own songs. Baxter's debut album will be released late
summer/early autumn on Primal Music in the Scandinavian/Nordic
countries, Maverick in the US and Warner everywhere else. Yoga have
their debut album on the way, which will be released on May 25th and
not sound like anything else, if you believe what they say. If you'd
like to see some of these bands play live, there's an all-nighter at
Rangus Tangus (the basement at Snaps, Gotgatan 48, Medborgarplatsen)
in Stockholm on May 7th, which starts at 9pm (21.00).

Depeche Mode Tour Scandinavia
Depeche Mode return to the road this autumn. The band embark on an
extensive two-month UK and European tour in September and October,
with further dates in the US to follow in November and December.
The new tour is entitled 'The Singles Tour 86-98'. This is the first
time Depeche Mode can been seen in concert since the summer of 1993,
when their 'Devotional' tour was seen by over two million people
around the world. The European shows coincide with the release of
a new singles compilation album, which will also include new
material the band are currently recording with producer Tim Simenon
in London. A single with a new song will be released before the
album. Note that the band will also perform these new songs on the
tour. Tickets to the Swedish gigs can be bought from BiljettDirekt
(Phone: +46-(0)77-1707070) or directly from the venues for 275 SEK
+ service fee (usually 20 SEK) starting Monday May 18th. In

The Smashing Pumpkins at Skansen
As strange as it may seem, Smashing Pumpkins will play on the
Solliden stage at Stockholm's Zoo Skansen on May 25th. This is
a part of a special "play at cool places" tour the 'kins have
in store for the world. Apart from Skansen, they will play
at the Red Square in Moscow, Russia and at the Guggenheim
museum in Bilbao, Spain (which should create an excellent
backdrop for the band IMO). The band will play new songs from
the upcoming album "Adore" which is their first album in three
years - and released on June 1st. A preceding single "Ava Adore"
is released on May 18th. Tickets in Sweden are 190 SEK +
service fee and they go on sale on monday (tomorrow) April

Swedish Booking Agencies grab the net
Both Luger and Motor BA:s have moved on to secure their sites
on the Internet. Motor, who could previously only be reached
through their Moonfire-address, have acquired the www.motor.se
URL, and Luger, who were previously stationed at BA EMA Telstar's
website, have finally hired a webmaster (not a day too soon if
you ask me - but then again, I actually suggested myself for
the job two years ago... :-)) who's workload must be enormous
- which has resulted in a soon-to-be-ready site.

If you are a patient person you can just sit down and wait. I think the
album was initially planned to be released in the US at the same time as
the Swedish release. But the US release has been delayed. According to the
official Komeda homepage (www.acc.umu.se/~bee/komeda/) June 9th is the date
to keep in mind for interested Americans (and others living there). And it
is definitely worth waiting for!

IOTA & PLUXUS are two of the most celebrated Slowball acts. Both have
recently released fine EPs on the stockholm label and the press have been
very positive. On Friday (May 1st) both bands will perform at
Pusterviksteatern in Gothenburg. IOTA will go on stage at 20.30 and play
their free instrumental pop/rock. Then PLUXUS will do their electronic
performance. The show will be closed of by both bands playing together.
Believe me - this could be pretty amazing. Before, inbetween & after the
concerts DJ AGGE will mix postrock, electronica, drums'n'bass, dub & hip
hip. So be there or be [].

Yes! According to an e-mail that the band sent to this "other source on the
net" (you know which one it is by now, dont you?) the response from people
who did not want the band to quit made them change their minds and stay
with us a little longer. And Torpedo Records were among those who decided
to act and actually do something. Therefore...

And around this time there will also be a compilation album with
HAPPYDEADMEN out on the new label Summersound Recording. This will, among
other things, feature material from the beginning of their "career", some
of it previously unreleased.
/Micke, who finds it quite pleasant to see that Sweden is not all covered
with indifference about what is actually happening. (Just hoping that it
would spread to more "important" areas too).

Heh heh, yeah, it was pretty interesting to see the news there today -
someone got quick feet all in a hurry. They (well, you, as I know
you're reading this anyway) were lucky I didn't post the news when
I got it last week. ;-) In fact, according to "my source" (wow, doesn't
this sound intreaguing?) the person who told the person at the "other
source" actually also told him it was just a name change and not a
split up at all - so why it was made to look like they were about to
split up when it got to the news there I don't know. But I know how
the evening press work - ie. a story isn't so hot, but it can be
made to look like it - and in the same time, you get even more hot
news when you can report a change a few days later.
Headline Monday: "Mats Sundin quits playing hockey!" (you sell
about 100.000 copies)
Headline Wednesday: "Mats changed his mind!" (you sell about
100.000 copies)
Well, who cares - as long as the truth is out there! ;)

1. "Fusion" group SATORI participates in Lithuania's Kaunas jazz festival in last weekends and have a great success to make stage performance here. Next - they will be a guests in Lituanias town Klaipeda's jazz festival in june.
2. The great news to rockers! The well known "hard" vocal Udo (exACCEPT) with own band U.D.O. will appears in Riga in concert!! In 15 may!
3. In 3rd may the great festival even follows in small town Skrunda. "Against the military" (to against the still working Russian radiolocator on Latvian land) festival includes the LIVI, BET BET, LABVELIGAIS TIPS, LINGA, Roberts Gobzinsh, HERLIS, PIENVEDEJA PIEDZIVOJUMI, Gunàrs Meijers, MELNA PRINCESE, TUMSA, RAPULI AR PUTNIEM, HUSKVARN, SKUMJU AKMENI, FLORA shows.
4. There have a rumours thats well known "radio 2" (in mid waves) will be renovate. News follows.

Damn - Alternative Nation really show Kent a lot (in Swedish as
well, right before they release their English speaking album and
singles...) and Monostar! Man, they've come far from the small
Gotland bars and clubs these days! It's really rewarding to see
them there now - they've worked long and hard for this - and
Speed Your Love is a great song. But it's a kind of funny feeling
to see Eric on MTV, I must admit. ;)

1. Well known group MENUETS in the end of august will celebrate theirs 30th (!!) anniversary. But new groups album "When sun dont' goes down" will in stocks in the mid of july.
2. The russian artist Oleg Gazmanov make a concert tonight, before have a press meeting with him. He said, that all things make into formula "do it yourself /DIY". And - the Latvians capitalcity is "very nice town". There he presents the new concerprogramm "The Red Book".
3. The news from the festival "Liepaja's Amber". There "LA" festival organizators start to make groups concert list, and the bands can report the wish to participate there. Last date - 1st june. Festival starts in 14 august. Liepaja is local/ one the biggest town in the west of Latvia.
4. The new music magazine starts in the end of may, news follows.
5. And the LIVI finished now Denmark club tour, then together with another popgroup BET BET in the end of may begins Latvian touring. Hard rock band LIVI this year have a plan to release two albums.
