And there probably are people on the list who doesn't like JAMC (perish the thought! :)) but we can't really ask on the list before posting such things - or perhaps we should? Kind of like "does anyone like Bananarama? I have a list of tourdates if anyone's interested..." - but then again, the list would probably be as dry as a throat in front of a cold Carlsberg. ;) >> I know there are people on the list with answers to all these >> questions - people who know Waxegard personally, people who >> are close to bob hund, people from EMA, and so on. Yeah, but I don't want to be the only one posting and asking questions on the list - it would be a simple distribution list then. It is here for discussions *and* interesting stuff being posted. On that note - maybe it's time to ask the list whether anyone's interested in the stuff I'm flooding it with? Gig guides? Festival info? News? Music on the Radio/TV? Tour lists? Promotional visits? Reviews? (I know there haven't been many lately - but the whole Reviews section is re-built right now, and I'm not going to flood the list with the 80+ reviews on the way to be added to it - you'll have to check out the area on the Sin site when it's finished, if you're interested.) Everything except for "Music on the TV" and "Promotional visits" (because most of those visits are in Stockholm and I try to spend as little time as possible with both TV and Stockholm. In January I was in Stockholm for three hours and during that time I almost ended up in the middle of a car accident, stumbled upon an injection needle and a tea spoon laying next to each other and was harrassed by a mad lady who claimed it was strictly forbidden to stand on the sidewalk. Phew!). Especially thanks for the info on Sarah Assbrings new band - the sound samples sounded great! It was also nice to see someone (Morgan, I think?) replying about the "Kalas" tour. I think I asked about that a week ago but without any reply. Though that question was at the end of a long (and rambling) message, so perhaps it is understandable if noone saw it. Perhaps it was that message that made everyone on the list fall asleep? And to add some new info (which might be old to someone else): it seems as if Olle Ljungstrom will be the main act at this years "Sommar-X" in Linkoping. I haven't heard this being confirmed yet, but I read in a tour guide in Aftonbladet that he will play in Linkoping on that date (June 12th) and I find it hard to believe that it should be at some other place. And since the event this year is held during the same weekend as the Hultsfred Festival I guess the organizers will have even less problems than usual with people who actually go there to listen to the music rather than to buy as much beer as possible. /Micke, listening to THE JAM "Greatest hits" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 May 1998 13:59:23 +0200 From: Erik Soderstrom Subject: Re: SV: [NEWS?] The Jesus & Mary Chain at Brofastivalen (+ Sommar-x) > And to add some new info (which might be old to someone else): it seems as > if Olle Ljungstrom will be the main act at this years "Sommar-X" in > Linkoping. That's news to me at least. So they have moved Sommar-X... I wonder if that is such a great idea, as a lot of people go "back home" or elsewhere when the university closes for summer. And how about all the people who are going to the Hultsfred festival? Olle Ljungstrom is a good choice though. I guess I've gotta be the "fly in the ointment" then and say that out of all the lists, the Music on the TV and Radio lists are the ones most relevant to me.....I'll never be able to make it to a gig at Herr'garn or Studion (living in the States as I do), but I can at least get to hear some of these bands if I know when they will be broadcasted (I've got friends in Sweden who can and do tape for me). Here are some sources that might be useful: www.lundakarnevalen.org - the homepage of the carnival www.af.lu.se/nationer/ - from here you can reach all of the nations and some of them probably describe the sound of their bands during the carnival > > Martin, who saw Sideshow Bob at Palladium (Lund, Sweden) yesterday and > > really liked it, although they didn't play "Mirthless" > > I have yet to see them live - which I hope to do this summer. What struck me was how much the live rendition of "Heavy Metal Nerd" reminded me of old Teenage Fanclub! I never thought of that before. Btw, how would you describe the sound of Sideshow Bob? To me, they sound a bit like late Nirvana with some added country influences. Now there's a band with some real girl power for you all, none of that spice crap we're having in Helsinki next week. One more geeky thing for the finns, is that Anna Kuoppamaki from Wilma singing in the Sonera add on tv ? Does anyone know if that's their new material or is it just a custom made song ? peace, _____________________ sami.niinimaki@uta.fi sn60524@uta.fi ------------------------------ End of Scandinavian Indie Digest Vol.98 #46 ********************************************
