The Work

This is a Suite à 5 by Johann Wilhelm Furchheim for 2 treble instruments (for example violins), 2 lower (for example viola) and basso. The only surviving copy is now preserved at Uppsala University Library, who gratiously provided the copy I have used for this edition. The manuscript number is IMHS 3:12.

This Edition

I have always tried to be as close to the original as possible. Editorial changes have been put above the staffs, or within parenthesis. Slashed figures in the continuo have been replaced with their flat/natural or sharp equivalents. All accidentals have been converted to modern standard. Soprano clef in the Part II is printed as treble clef. The tenor clef in Part IV is printed as alto clef.
