LPC4, A language not just for mud

• Short description: My idea of an LPC (LPMUD) driver

• History: A long time ago I discovered that the only way to learn LPC is to read the driversource, and when doing so I discovered that it wasn all very nicely written. So I started making modifications so I could have a faster and less clogged LPC.

  Today I'm trying to get someone to write me a mudlib for it, because I find mudlib coding so darn boring. So far people has written the strangest things (even a WWW-server), but no mudlib.

• LPC4 features:
  • It is possible to run in script mode from unix, so it is possible to make 'commands' in LPC, Lysators www-server is for instance an LPC4-script.
  • All strings can contain zeros, not all efuns can handle zeros in strings yet though.
  • It has signal handling.
  • there is no 'ed' in LPC4 (it was removed along with say(), shout(), interactive structure, shadows and the old tracecode.
  • The old socket communication is gone, and replaced by slightly modified versions of mudos' socket codes by Jaques.
  • Database support efuns.
  • It has nice function pointers and lambda functions (NOT closures).
  • So far it's fairly small.
  • I wrote most of it (so it's not full of other peoples cludges - yet).
