These are the northern parts of the province Närke. The rich farmland in the south borders the forests in the north, and the province of Västmanland. To the west is mountain range Kilsbergen, where närkingar go skiing in the winter.
The railroad from Örebro in the south goes north to Frövi and turns east, heading for Västerås. Euroroutes E20 and E18 run together from Örebro, also heading east towards Stockholm.
In the extreme north is the town Nora.
In the southwest corner of the map is the northern half of lake Tisaren.
