ReviewsHere I'll review different things, like movies, books and computer stuff. Remember that everything here is my own thoughts, so if you disagree, mail me and share your, constructive, critiscism, or don't return to these pages. Nuff said. Here goes the reviews.Latest reviewsThese are the latest reviews... The X FilesThe X Files on the big screen, could that be something, I though for myself entering the cinema. Well, I could just not resist this one, even if I was kind of sceptical, as I think that the TV series is one of the best at the moment. Sadly my gut feeling wasn't that off the track, as I felt the movie was a bit 'too much'. Too many aliens (and no doubt about them either, they were clearly visible), and too much CONSPIRACY everywhere. And those aliens, why must they be so incredibly ugly, and behave like evil monsters? It's pretty damn hard to imagine them building a space craft, being years and years ahead of the human race on earth. The fault the makers of the movie did, IMHO, was that they tried to make something more then an ordinary X Files episode, they tried to make everything more. But hey, the series is great, so the movie is pretty good anyways. Let's say something like 3.5 out of a maximum of 5. However, it's most definitely worth seeing. Movie reviewsThe full montyWe were a whole group of people on this one. Everyone had heard very positive opinions of the movie, so I was of course a little sceptical. Amazingly enough, the movie was great! Not 'the best movie' or 'the funniest movie' as we had heard, but a very good movie indeed. The actors were excellent and they interacted wonderfully. This is a must see, if I believed in such statements. We all left the theatre feeling happy, even my girlfriend who had managed to get coke all over her. Tomorrow Never DiesWow! At last time for another Bond movie! And in a movie theatre recently THX enhanced. Brosnan as Bond and Teri Hatcher participating also. It sounded very good. Too good to be true? Well I think so, it was a prestty good action movie, but not with the little extra that I've come to expect from Bond. Brosnan was adequate, but didn't have those punch lines Bond should have (there were several tries, but almost all of them felt out of place). Hatcher's part wasn't anything to remember, and Q seemed old (but did give the best Bond feeling in the whole movie). The sound was great though... It's worth seeing, though, mostly because it IS a Bond movie. Alien IV, the ResurrectionI went to this movie accompanied by my girlfriend and another friend. The expectations of this sequel were set pretty high, but I didn't honestly think it would match the first movie in the series, that one was of course a true classic. That were the expectations, how was it then? Well I enjoyed it, don't think there were a dull minute, but it was very much slime, lots of blood and tissue splattering all over the place. Perhaps too much slime and too little real tension (oboy were there tension in the first movie!). Technically it was amazing, the monsters' movement almost perfect, especially in a breath taking under water sequence. The actors didn't really have to make that much of an effort, but I thought Sigourney Weaver played her usual role as Ripley excellent, perhaps better than ever before. My girlfriend thought it was a pretty good movie, though lacking some serious psychological tension. Summarized it's well worth seeing, good action, amazing effects, a little too much slime but a Sigourney Weaver at her best. |
