Info
Confluencia is the first camp inside the national park. There is room
for approximately 10-15 tents (not counting the park rangers tents).
There is plenty of fresh water both to the north and south of the camp.
The water in the river is rather clear in the early mornings, but some
time during the morning it turns from clear to red/brown. This happens
in about 5 minutes, and looks a bit peculiar.
There is a toilet-area to the south of Confluencia which comes in quite
handy...
Personal experience
We stayed in Confluencia for three nights. It is common to take a
sidetrip to Plaza Francia to acclimatize the hight, and then return to
Confluencia again to rest a bit. We had an extra restday after our trek
to Plaza Francia (all of us didn't get there).
Unknowing of how things worked, we built our camp on the middle of the
trail from Confluencia to the toiletarea which seemed to annoy more than
one of the camp inhabitants... try to avoid this.
