The sponsors of the Swedish Aconcagua Expedition 1995/96
Some of the sponsors are present on the net, check out the links!
Caravan sponsored us with simple and robust rucksacks (TREKPACK 75 l)
and double down sleepingbags (CARRY COMBI DUN). The sleepingbags were
extremely warm and comfortable. The construction made it possible to
use only the inner sleepingbag at lower altitudes where the
temperature was relatively high. Combined with high quality this makes
it a very usefull sleepingbag for all kinds of adventure. Caravan also
provided us with mattresses (SKIN-MAT) by Artiach.
BERG & HAV
Berg & Hav offered us gaiters and warm gloves by and down jackets
by . These
down jackets are just about the warmest clothes you
can wear! Temperatures of -35C is no problem at all. At night it may
well be used as a pillow. When you don't wear the jacket it is
possible to compress it to a minimum of its original size.
We used jackets and salopett trousers made of (a material similar to
Gore-Tex, but cheaper). These superb clothes were commonly worn during
the whole expedition.
The swedish military (Livgardets dragoner, K1) supplied us with 180
kilos of food and medical equipment.
Supplied us with medical equipment, medicins and some financial aid.
Salomon offers the ultimate trekkingshoe, Adventure n:o 9. These
robust and durable yet comfortable shoes could be worn at all
temperatures between -15C and +25C. At lower temperatures gaiters
are recommended. Adventure n:o 9 are designed to work well with
crampoons.
Our undergarnments from Triconor were made of a new kind of material
called Ullfrotté
(60% wool). They turned out to be the most appreciated clothes all
categories. They kept us warm and comfortable at all times, day and
night. They were hygienic and easy to clean. We highly recommend
Ullfrotté!
EKA provided us with excellent pocketknives. EKA Nordic surprised us
all with its strength and maintained sharpness despite rough
handling. EKA Compact being extremely light (40 gr) and razorsharp
proved to be a perfect mountaineer knife.
All our batteries used for flashlights, walkie-talkies, headlights and
the GPS-navigator were sponsored by Emil Lundgren AB. They also
contributed with greatly appreciated financial aid to the expedition.
Coleman
Most of the time we used kitchens from Coleman. We could use allmost
any inflammable liquid as fuel wich was very practical in a desolate
area as Aconcagua.
During the demanding summit attempt we used gas-stoves from
Primus. These kitchens are very efficient. At room temperature one can
easily make porridge in less than one minute!
All film used by the expedition were from Fuji. We took more than 1500
photos, most of them with Fuji Chrome Provia 400. We also used Fuji
Chrome Provia 100 and Super G+ Fuji Color 400.
Supplied us with medical equipment, medicins and some financial aid.
Hilleberg has a reputation of being one of the best tent-manufacturers
in the world. We are happy to confirm that! We brought with us three
NAMATJ 2. They were easily raised even though the wind was heavy, the
two-layer construction kept us warm during cold nights. The tents were
generally nice and cosy and also easy to keep clean. A perfect home in
the mountains!
Ekonomidata
Gave us some financial aid.
