Liu logchecker

What?

Liu logchecker examines the logs that accumulate on your log server and sends email to your administrators about the interesting log messages.

How?

Liu logchecker asumes you have the following basic setup:

  • A number of machines that log messages to a loghost
  • A syslog daemon on the loghost that files the log messages by date/host
  • A logstaff user and group on the loghost that may read the log files
If all that is in place, you add:
  • Liu logchecker
  • Configuration files that define what's interesting to whom and what's not
  • A cron job
and Liu logchecker will send the interesting log messages to those who want them.
