Gear crafting: Save purple shards for when fighters are lvl 70+ (or just use and go for set artifacts)
Portal: My current lvl:  7 (18 souls, costs 10k food): 1.8 soul/10k-food
                        29 (56              17.7k   ): 3.2 soul/10k-food
                        30 (58              18.1k   ): 3.2 soul/10k-food
        With TR 6 a purple shard costs 650
        Soul multiplier x2 costs 180 gems which costs 2500 souls (beneficial if I do over 160 rounds)
Arena store: Wait for soul armor (mage - stasis, archer - reanimate, tank - increase hp)
             Weapons: instakill when opp gets below X%
Always keep one fighter at <lvl>-1, for Arena.
Keep one spell undeveloped, for quick and cheap spell creation (quests)
Do not upgrade Weapons/Armor/Jewelry Workshop - use them for fast crafting, to upgrade shards (for the Set Workshop?)
