Money comes in the form of coins made of copper, silver, gold or platinum in ascending value. Their values of the coins are based on a duodecimal system. Each coin of a higher denomination is worth 12 of a lower coin. For example, a gold coin is worth 12 silver coins. Around the lands you will find banks where money may be deposited or changed for higher denominations. SEE ALSO banks SYNOPSIS banks DESCRIPTION Banks can be found throughout the realms. They generally offer two types of service: changing coins and deposits. Since the lowest denomination of money generally is the most common, travellers can get burdoned with large quantities of low value coins. For a fee, banks will change coins, or minimize all your coins to the highest denominations. The second service offered by many banks is the deposit. Again at a fee, the banks will safely keep your money. Due to a sophisticated system for information exchange, money can withdrawn at any branch office. In addition to money deposits, some banks also offer gem deposits. Contrary to money, gems can only be retrieved at the same branch where they were deposited in the first place. SYNOPSIS adverbs all / list / * adverbs adverbs adverbs replace[ments] adverbs ,, ... DESCRIPTION Adverbs can be used together with many emotions. Do "help emotions" for more information on the general emotions. Using the "adverbs" command you can list all adverbs available for use in conjunction with those emotions. ADVERB USAGE When using an adverb in conjunction with an emotion, you can identify it by abbreviating it to a minimum of three characters. The search algorithm will then always find the first adverb in the list that matches your abbreviation. Note that not all adverbs can be accessed with only three characters, as typing "hea" will yield heartbrokenly, so you need to type at least "hearti" to get heartily. There is one exception to this rule, and that is that "sad" will give sadly and not sadistically. . Use the period to not use any adverb, not even the default adverb. Some adverbs will automatically be replaced by a more suitable phrase. For instance, if you "smile friendly", you will actually "smile in a friendly manner". NOTE ON USAGE All emotions that can be used with an adverb have a default adverb if you do not specify an adverb. To specify that you do not want to use an adverb at all, use the period. "smile ." will just make you smile and not smile happily for happily is the default adverb for the emotion smile. When you enter a post office, a mail reader will be presented to you and with that reader, you can manage your mail. /Mercade MAIL FUNCTIONS ============== The following functions are offered to handle your mail. For their syntax, I refer to the mail reader itself. You can examine it to get a list of the commands attached to it and when you are in mail reading mode, you can give the command "?" to get a list of all commands supported, with a brief explanation of the syntax. - Mail a message to one [or more] players; - Add a list of people to receive a carbon copy (CC) of the message. It is possible (command "autocc") to automatically send a carbon copy of each mail you write to yourself. This means that you will have to clean out your mailbox regularly; - Resend the last message if you forgot an addressee; - List the headers of your [newly] received messages; - Read a message [using more]; - Reply to a message. It is possible to include the message you reply to and edit it before you send it; - Forward a message to one [or more] other players. It is possible to add some comments to the message before you send it, but you cannot edit the message you received. Your comments are placed before the inclusion of the forwarded message; - Delete messages. Messages will first be marked for deletion, so you can change your mind and unmark them. However, if you erase them or leave mail reading mode, the messages are lost forever; ALIASES ======= The mail reader supports several levels of aliases. When your list of addressees is resolved for individual player names, they are evaluated in the order below: - Global aliases, like the name of a domain to mail all members of a certain domain and classes of wizards, like "liege" to mail all domain- lieges or "admin" to mail all administrators of Genesis; - Post office related aliases. Some post offices in guilds or cities may allow you to mail to the "council", the "guildmaster" or maybe the "mayor" of a town, "steward" of an area, etcetera; - Personal aliases. If you mail to several individuals that do not form one of the above mentioned cathegories, you may assign a name to them as a group, i.e. "mudlib" if I want to mail Tintin and Glindor to discuss new and cool mudlib features. ;-) (command "malias") FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS =================== Mail reader development is slow since it is not a vital part of the game as such. However, there are some plans for future enhancement of the reader. These are: - Enablement of Blind Carbon Copy (BCC). This means that the original addressees will not see that someone received a carbon copy (CC); - For wizards we will add the possibility to move mail into a separate file in their directory for further use; - Automatic mail removal. After a certain pre-defined time, the messages will be automatically deleted from your mailbox. MASSIVE MAILING =============== The mail system is designed and implemented to handle single messages with perhaps a few people receiving a carbon copy. It is expressly not meant to send massive amounts of mails. Many people on such a mailing list do not want to read the message in the first place, and people replying to such massive messages only make it worse. Massive mailing is therefore forbidden in Genesis. If have a great idea to be implemented, have critisism or want to share anything else with regard to mail, you can mail the mudlib developing archwizards (see "help wizards") or you can mail the author of this document, Mercade. Mind you, if members of your guilds may fight between themselves you aren't safe even there. * Common Board Rooms. In these rooms you cannot be attacked or cannot attack. It doesn't matter if the attack is physical or via spell. That means, if you logged in and want to read common board messages, you will be allowed to do it safely. However, Common Board Rooms are NO safe havens for fleeing from fight. The fights that are already going on may continue in Common Board Rooms, depending whether you managed to break away far enough from the pursuers for the actual fight to stop! * Lone rooms throughout the Donut where fighting was disabled similarly to Common Board Room. Their state is precisely like the Common Board Room, you cannot rely on them as a refuge for fleeing. If you are attacked for the first time inside a Common Board Room, please report that immediately to the AoP, including the log of how the fight was initiated. If you encounter a room that forces you to stop fighting, and you consider it to be completely unjustified, or abusive, please contact the AoP team.
