The design mission consists of 8 main legs. After take off, the aircraft will climb to 40000 ft, cruise 556 nm, dash 333 nm at 33000 ft, turn back, dash another 333 nm, cruise home, descent, loiter for 20 min's and land.
This design mission would render a really heavy aircraft, at least if the requirements regarding manouverability remain unchanged. A more reasonable dash distance would be 1/3 of the initial requirement, i.e two times 100 nm, and we would still have troubles fulfilling the turn rate demand, see below. The revised design mission can be seen in fig 1.1.
