But yes they are really great and they do pull off a damn good live show, you kids who havent heard them yet, you need to check them out... This is more of a "summer pop band" - no drone/shoegaze/dreampop from what I can hear at least. //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Jan 1998 19:54:59 -0800 From: voltron Subject: Re: Autumns sound bites Erik Soderstrom wrote: > > To hear some audio samples of the Autumns, go to the Music Boulevard > > website and look up the band. http://www.musicblvd.com/ > > I just listened to them all, and I have to agree with whoever wrote > they weren't at all like the Cocteaus or Slowdive. Yes, I'd have to say that from what I heard, it reminded me of 80's pop more than anything else, like Tears for Fears, XTC, Trash Can Sintatras and the like. In other Autumns related talk, the Autumns played a show up here in San Francisco with Junior Varsity km, an ambient-pop drum 'n' bass guy on Darla records. After the show they asked him to do some remixes for them, so that might be a possibility for an upcoming Autumns release. Would be interesting, but I'm not sure if the either of the artists ever followed through with the collaboration. -viet ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 00:51:10 -0500 (EST) From: butterfly mcqueen Subject: Re: Autumns sound bites > In other Autumns related talk, the Autumns played a show up here in San > Francisco with Junior Varsity km, an ambient-pop drum 'n' bass guy on > Darla records. I hope this prop doesn't keep the list from going on with the excellent idea of making a rarities comp CD that is only for the listees. It seems do-able. Here's a suggestion: why not just record the rarities CD in chronological order from earliest to most recent. i have no input as to what should be on it, but the more the merrier excluding traditional album tracks. just a few thoughts.... cory On Fri, 16 Jan 1998, Lull45 wrote: > Hey Spacekids... > > OKay here the deal...I heard that Ryko was putting on a Slowdive Boxset...very > hush-hush, and it would be out by april...It would include everything all EPs, > Cd's and even a video(multimedia) it will run for like $60 so, thats the > deal... if i'm wrong...sorry... > > Cheers, > Spaceboy1 > Ps Rachel is a freakin goddess cory 1cc5776@unixstew.tstc.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 17:02:46 -0500 From: ndns@mindspring.com (Mark) Subject: Re: Whats all this about then >In a message dated 15/01/98 04:42:05, you write: > ><< Anybody understand this? > > >I know this is a redundant hype, and maybe everyone doesn't agree (which > >should be discussed thoroughly), but this listing crowd has reacted most > >enthusiastically toward a communtity-minded creation. Thanks for your unneeded, tongue-in-cheek comment. I hope that you enjoy Slowdive as much as I do. If you do, then perhaps you will reply to the paragraph and not to my writing style. Thank you to those who felt the messages were worthwhile. This is my first week on the web and I'm still trying to figure a lot of this out. My first stop was, of course, Slowdive. Now, in my few days absence, I have located a local cd burner. I have two live cuts, though easy enough to find, from Mojave 3. Shaving the Pavement. Thanks for the good vibe list, and let's all keep our minds open to the special list rarieties cd, if possible. I don't really have any other bands that I know of that are as good as Slowdive, but Chapterhouse and the Lilys (actually more MBV) would at least share the genre.
