Well, I'm glad to see that someone actually *read* my posting from a couple 
of days ago, instead of jumping straight down to the list!  It did indeed 
say that some of the bands / artists listed were also "rock" -- not just 
"ambient."  Good gawd, any fool would know that the Pixies aren't "AMBIENT."

The list I submitted was culled from a database of CDs that I own.  It was 
floated purely for discussion purposes only.  Maybe I should have broken the 
list up into categories.  But it was late and I just got home from working 
about 14+ hours straight through -- like just now.  Musical categorization 
and genre hairsplitting are purely subjective processes that I personally 
don't care to practise on a regular basis.  

I would've liked to have seen responses more like yes ____, or why ____, 
or who is ____, or you forgot _____.  Actually, I think "Mike P." mentioned 
Aphex Twin, which I should have submitted in my list but omitted during my 
database sorting and culling.

You're right! If they could combine the current songs with their earlier
sound, then they would have made the record of the year I think. For me
it is clear that Richard Ashcroft now makes all the songs where the
others play some additional guitars on. But Storm in Heaven was more a
unity. What about A Northern Soul? Because I never heard that album. Has
it something to do with the earlier stuff, or is it primarily some
acoustic stuff???

I'm partial only to their (Flowchart's) "Tenjira" CD on the 
Darla Records label, which is just one album in the infamous 
Darla "Bliss Out" series of CD releases.  The following are 
the Bliss Out Series releases of which a new volume is released 
about every month or so -- available at decent record stores for 
low monetary units:

American Analog Set -- "Late One Sunday And The Following Morning"
Amp -- "Heart And Soul Dissolves"
Amp -- "Perception"
Flowchart -- "Tenjira"
Fuxa -- "Venoy"
Mirza -- "Anadromus"
Orange Cake Mix -- "Silver Lining Underwater"
Tomorrowland -- "Stereoscopic Soundwaves"
Transient Waves -- "Wading And Waiting"
Windy & Carl -- "Antarctica"

The Flowchart CD sounds a lot like many of the early '80s albums 
from Durutti Column / Vini Reilley -- which is one of those entries 
on that controversial list o' bands.

 Wouldn't you rather hear a cool song like Bittersweet Symphony 
 in a commercial than typical ad jingles? 

 Personally, I'd prefer TV commercials to have good music than
 'Spice Up Your Life'-type crap. It'd give me one good reason
 to turn on the TV...

 Here's a quick list of artists that have "sold out" to mersh:

Wow! I thought I was the only MAIN fan around. That guy does some
fantastic stuff. I saw him in Toronto back in October when he opened for
Bowery Electric. Very cool show. I would also recommend Hz, you can
usually get it for under $20. It's a nice double cd pack with beautiful
photos of different geological surfaces. Check it out if your into
intense organic kind of planetarium music.

I've heard some stuff by Main and thought it ultra dull. One 20 minute song
that droned on and on and on....

I didn't know he sang on any of his stuff. I'll have to check it out.
Although, not ambient, Robert Hampson (the guy from Main) used to head a
group called Loop (which was quite excellent I might add) and their last cd
has some pseudo ambient stuff on it.

what about the 6CD box?  I recently saw it, and wondered how good it was,
if it was hard to find, and how much is a reasonable price for it?  Also,
how much music is on it?

Hi everyone,
I work in San Francisco, and I go to shows quite often.  I have seen Halo
once, and it was just by chance.  I don't really see their name around too
much, which is a shame because they are great!

I don't know if they have anything realeased, but I will check around.
