I usually buy it and give it to a friend b/c I like it so much. I found these quotes about the album and I thought they were appropriate, (I hope its not bad to post them): State of Grace - Jamboreebop "cuts a deep channel through the usual sea of classifications, challenging preconceptions while simultaneously appealing across the board." "Specializing in songs that are equal parts pop and psychedelic rock," "a unique musical ground where acoustic instruments and female vocals meet fiery guitars and tripped-out electronic grooves for a joyous and consistent whole." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 16:35:32 +0000 From: "wade@tapehouse.com" Subject: Re: state of grace anyone on this list heard the Catchers? For some reason, the mention of State of Grace reminded me of them. Anyways, they're not heavy effects layered dreampoppers, but their really good songwriters(depending on your own opinion), and the songs are great. they have some cure flanging, some heavy distortion over jangley guitars, but their male/female vox rule! wade ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 14:13:18 -0700 (PDT) From: Petrina Katsikas Subject: splinterworld I was just skimming the digest since I'm new on the list, and I read about Splinterworld. I do college radio and am always looking for new stuff if anyone knows how I could get something from Splinterworld to play (if they have anything out) that would be cool. Thanks, ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 16:18:48 -0500 From: Agent Cooper Subject: Another thing I'm tired of... What is the damn deal with you idiots whose posts invariably look like this? I mean, are you too lazy to configure your word wrap, or are you just stupid? Sure, you could accuse me of being a nit picker, but these unnecessary lines of virtually blank space really add up, especially when other people QUOTE your posts (and I can't imagine how anyone whose posts look like THIS could have anything to say worth repeating...) Just another gripe, now back to my finals... -- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 16:47:59 +0000 From: "wade@tapehouse.com" Subject: Re: splinterworld Petrina, Hey, that's my band. Are you in NYC too? At the moment we have an old demo with our old members playing on it. I could send you to play, though it's not the best representation of us now. We are in the process of recording new material. But I'll send you something if you want, I'd love to have some radioplay. It's more Slowdivish/MBV than anything, and pretty catchy too.. :) wade ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 22:20:45 EDT From: Espsummer Subject: Re: Pale Saints EPs i think all the pale saints singles/e.p.s are hard to find myself. Its not impossible(especially if u live in a big ole city). I have had an easier time locating the first 3 slowdive singles than any pale saints singles. That being said, the best possible buy if u can find it is the Mrs. Dolphin cd because it combines most of the first singles leaving out flesh balloon i think? Anyways I am going thru atlanta this week and will be on the hunt for that one. The other post pale saints projects by ian masters such as spoonfed hybrid, esp summer, and oneironaut (however spelled) are quite hard to find. They are well worth it however because he drifts away from the potentially abrasive shoe-guitar sound for a more clean softer sound. Both spoonfed hybrid and esp summer are quite similar and i would rather own them than pygmalion or ask me tommorow if i was presented that kinda desert island scenerio. There are also singles/10/7 inch records of spoonfed hybrid and esp summer as well. I have the hibernation shock cd single ......but have not located and 7 inches or 10 inches............ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 May 1998 01:22:36 -0500 From: avalyn Subject: RE: Pale Saints EPs i think flesh balloon and half-life eps are readily available at sirencd.com for $10. also you can order friendly science enregisterments stuff directly from ian masters i believe, i forget the website however.. st ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 May 1998 02:16:14 PDT From: "Matthew Falconer" Subject: Re: davebp@postmaster.co.uk is a nice guy... From: davebp@postmaster.co.uk Subject: Re: davebp@postmaster.co.uk is a nice guy... MIME-Version: 1.0 Hi Dave!!! Good to talk to someone on this list who is halfway civilized!!!! Yep, I'm from Sydney allright. When are you going to be back in Melbourne??? Might have to come down and check out what you bought in England! Sounds good! Yeah, I have heard that the musci situation in England is pretty good, too. Have you bought much stuff over there??? If there are heaps of Slowdive EP's lying around the place then why haven't you been selling them to idiots on this list??? They pay a FORTUNE for little 3 and 4 track EP's that really aren't worth half of what they pay for them... but then again, that's their choice, huh??? Thanks for you offer to get some more Slowdive EP's!! I don't need any right now but if you do come across any let me know and I'll buy them off you and re-sell them to all the intelligent people here! (or somewhere else...). Let me know. Anyways, this list has been a bit quiet of late so I think that I'll leave it until things pick up again a bit... See everyone. A simple lesson in how to interact with someone who makes a generous offer. He offered to pick me up any Slowdive EP's I might want and I said "thank you but no thanks". See??? Makes a difference when you LISTEN and are POLITE. There's something in that for all of us, I think... And Erik: don't shit me about swearing on the list. I've heard you do it several times. As Dave explained, cultural norms are mostly relative. Could be that using "offensive" words like FUCK are not held with the same level of contempt that they are wherever you come from (Scandanvia, somewhere, if I'm not mistaken). People in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones!!! Have some RESPECT. That's it for now... Bye!!!
