Jesus and Mary chain, I had to tell everyone on the list that's it's
amazingly good! It's a very noisy, catchy cd. Usually I listen to
nothing but dreampop/shoegazer stuff and this cd fullfills
everything! Probably the best cd I've heard all year. Yea, it's
that good...

Hello,
Just found this list and got myself subscribed. I really like Slowdive
alot. Seems I was lead to them via Cocteau Twins and Lush. Something
about all those reverb guitars and echoey female vocals. I like the
combination of male and female voices, those lush soundscapes and the
overall production. And of course that wall of guitar throughout. I even
like the ambient Pygmalian. Mojave 3 took a little while to grow on me.
Having gotten Pygmalian last it was a logical evolution towards Mojave
3. I really like the more "shoegazy" electric slowdive bit the mello
acoustic version is pretty soothing and nice too. It is always
interesting to see evolution happening with someone's music. I think its
great when people experiment with other types of sound (except maybe
LUSH's last one...eekk).
But anyway whenever I enter any CD store I immediatly go over to the S
section and look for Slowdive. I have so-far collected the following:

I posted the first message about Grimble Grumble. I saw them open for
Windy & Carl in S.F., one night before Terrastock, then again at the
festival itself.
I've looked for info on them on the net, and haven't really come up with

Sorry, what do you mean - catch the breeze?
Are you talking about the 12", Holding our Breath; or do you mean
the 7" single? I have both and I don't think there's any problem

it came right off slowdive's _holding our breath_ep? just a thought.

sound and antarctica. A lot more produced sounds in my opinion make
it not as raunchy. Anyone get the Providence cd? It has two tracks
on it, with Carl, Dave (from FSA), a member of Azura plane(whatever
the spelling is), and a few others all jamming in bliss....!

Hmm, I just saw a new (?) Grimble Grumble 7" which was called
(no no, I'm not swearing ;)) "Fucked In The Head" and released on
Amberley. Is it worth getting?

Yes! Finally there's some Mojave 3 news!
Just received word from Rachel that the first EP from their upcoming
album has a set release date of June 28th! The title is "Who Do You Love"
and contains the songs: "Who Do You Love", "Between Us", "This Road I'm
Travelling" and "Who Do You Love - demo". Tour dates are being planned
as well.

Mine seems to play just fine. I like the way slowdive sounds on vinyl so
much more. The only slowdive album that I don't have on vinyl is Souvlaki.
If anybody has seen an extra copy of Souvlaki on vinyl, I would reward you
handsomely. Then my collection would be close to complete. Let me know,

semi-local shop ... would anyone recommend this or recommend against?

As you know this Sunday is Mother's Day. I am a college radio DJ and
I'm going to do a show of all female artists who are mothers who fit
in with the genre of music that I play (which is the genre of music
that gets talked about here on this list.) As far as I know, Rachel's
not a mother, but if she is, can someone let me know. I was hoping the
well-informed people of this list might be able to help me with
suggestions. (I know Liz F. and A. Drecker are mothers.)
A cute anecdote to go along with this (I hope you don't mind me
telling this story.)
I'm going to have my grandmother in as a guest host on my Mother's Day
Special and I'm going to have her do some of the backlisting. I called
her to ask her if she would do it:
me: "What are you doing Sunday? Want to be a guest dj on my Mother's
Day radio show?"
Gram: "What's a dj?"
me: "Radio announcer, Gram, I want you to talk on the radio with me."
Gram: "I don't know anything about rock and roll!"
me: "You don't have to know anything, I'll tell you what to say."
Gram: "You mean I don't have to guess anything?"
me: "No Gram, I'll have it written down for you, ok?"
Gram: "I don't know if my voice is audiogenic but OK, sure, why not!"
I thought it was cute.

I have a fanzine called "100.000 Luciernagas" (sorry, only in Spanish!). In
issue #1 there are interviews with Windy & Carl, The Azusa Plane,
Labradford, Damon & Naomi among many, many others (90 pages!)
I hope to interview Grimble Grumble in issue nš2. As the interview will be
made in English and then translated into Spanish, if anyone is interested
in reading it before I translate it juste let me know.
