i agree... "the sound of violence" isn't half as good as "ghost".

you might want to try downpour.  i think they're on dropbeat records.  
i listened to a little bit of it, and it struck me as similar to third 
eye foundation, but much noisier and dissonant.

personally, i kind of liked junior varsity km.  "taking care of you" 
is the perfect thing to listen to in the morning at work.  some of the 
songs do tend to drag on a little too long, and tend to sound alike, 
but in a pleasant way.

on a different note, i picked up "overcome by happiness" by the 
pernice brothers yesterday and i haven't stopped listening to it 
since.  reminds me of a country-fied eric matthews.  very, very nice.

I do a radio show in Austin and I thought that sounded very interesting so I
played some Sketches of Spain over "altogether"  and it went beautifully.

Fabolous!!! I think that's the way Kevin Shields will like MBV to be
nowadays. He -Matt Elliot- uses drum'n'bass beats and mix them with obscure
moods+noises -ala FSA or Labradford-. Buy "Ghost" and you will not be
dissapointed. By the way, Matt told me that Kevin S. would love they to
work together. Matt also plays the guiter in Movietone. I am trying to get
their e-mail / snail-mail address. Could anyone help me?

Yes; and then "Emperor..." and then "Refried..." and then "Peng" and
then...once you've begun with the groop you cannot stop. Get the whole set.
I also agree that there are no connections between them and Slowdive. They
are very closely inspired by Neu! -any fan out there?-

I do like Squarepusher. I think "Feed me weird things" is a greeeaaat album.
Maybe Plug, Photex and Roni Size are other d'n'b artists you'll enjoy, but
if you want to take a huge risk try Alec Empire. Drum'n'bass? No: sound
terrorism!

Aren't you all in love with Low?

Well, I am. And I've found a curious feedback between Slowdive, them and
Mojave 3.
When I first heard "I could live in hope", their fist album, I thought they
were like a naked version of Slowdive -accoustic guitars  instead of
effects-. Then Slowdive split up and Mojave 3 were born, and they sounded
very similar to Low!

hrmm.  here is my take on that topic.  they both play quiet, acoustic
based music.  that's about the only similarity.  the song writing is
completely different as are the arrangements and lyric style.  its like
saying the red house painters and american music club are the same because
they have a similar sound, just not correct.  while 2 bands can have
similar sounds, its what they do with the sound that makes them the band.
or whatever.  that was hardly as coherent as i would've liked it to be.

Switched on Stereolab is definently the most like My Bloody Valentine. It is
a comp of all of their early eps, back when they were more of a guitar band.
It really rules, I can never stop listening to it seeing as it is the kind
of stereolab album I have always been looking for.

enough.. try claire de leon... they have it sometimes... its like ten
dollars..

item.. if you dotn want to sell it, then dont.. but dont charge collectors

Curtain hits the cast is my fave album, though they are in dire need of a
b-sides album.  so many of the b-sides are just magnificent.  they have a
remix album due our in July, on astralwerks/caroline, and a limited edition
live album is also due next month.

I completely agree.. I fell in love with Low after hearing their cover
of Joy Division's (my all time fav band) song Transmission which is
about the only cover of their's i can hear without bleeding.  Infact,
Low is playing a music festival here (halifax, nova scotia, canada) at
the end of the summer and I can't wait.  Hopefully their live sound
comes close to their recorded sound...

Yes, these prices are getting on my nerves. I understand people are willing
to pay a lot for something rare, but they can go too far - I recently saw
the results of a net auction and someone payed $40 for Morningrise - come
on??? isn't Morningrise still in print or at least easily available?

Thanks for the note, I mean, I like Mojave 3 a lot, and would probably have
started looking up Mazzy Star stuff in hope of finding the same music...
Now I'll just look up their stuff 'cause I know people who like Mojave like
them too. The result's the same, but I won't have any expectations to be
ruined, or something. Why I'm taking this up is that I first heard of
American Music Club in connection with Red House Painters. I loove RHP and
was told 'yes-yes, it's like RHP, it's great.' Would have been great if
it'd been as good, but it wasn't and I was somewhat upset for being turned
up like this...

*i could live in hope* is one of my favorite albums of the decade...you must
see them live at least once, they are quite intense...there's a low remix
album being released thru astralwerks next month...naturally, it's a departure
from their norm, but should be fun in any case (i'm anticipating something
along the lines of the reload remix of "in mind")...
