Tom (and everyone else) On the Projekt Records mailing list (a list written by Projekt label owner Sam Rosenthal every week), Sam answered this question (kind of). He said that many people had been asking about LLC and what's going on with them etc. All Sam said about this was that Scott pops in every now and then and says something about doing some new stuff sometime in the near future and then leaves again. It was all rather vague but I very much got the impression that Sam didn't have much of an idea, either... So I figure that unless Sam (or other insiders from Projekt Records) are holding something close to their chest, or unless you know Scott or something like that, then it'd be pretty hard to find out what LLC have up their sleeves (if anything at all). Maybe something has developed since then, I really don't know. It would be worth mailing Projekt (don't know the e-mail addy - check on the web-site) because I get the impression that they take notice of input from their fans - one of the reasons I like stuff on that label (other than the fact that I like the music)... And that's all I know!! Hmmmmmmmm... yeah, my message about Aussie bands was intended for the list... I just think that there are so few 'decent' Aussie bands and that the few ones that are both good, IMO, and original are mostly overlooked. Of course there would be a few around that I've not heard before... >There are other bands if you look harder though that have dabbled in >shoegazing, and added their own sound to it, unlike a lot of English bands >that just reinvented the MBV sound. Not sure about that call... all the English 'shoegazing' bands had their own distinctive sound and, off the top of my head, I can't really think of any two that even sound too similar... certainly can't think of any that sound much like MBV... >Bands like The Wash, Crow, Drop City, >Sidewinder, the Clouds have all taken elements of the shoegazing sound and >mutated it...the Church is an example of longevity in doing this... I'm not too sure about half of the bands you've mentioned here because I've never heard them, but I think the Church call is stretching things a bit... I've heard pretty much everything they've ever released and I can't think of a single song that sounds even remotely similar to any kind of shoegaze band I've heard... The Church are from another musical genre altogether, they're coming from a different direction (musically speaking) and bear no real resemblence, sonically, to the 'shoegaze' sound... >Yeah, I come from Adelaide - Cover Band City of Australia.... Try Hobart (where I live) if you want to see cover bands!!!! (Hobart would take the cake as far as having the honour of being cover band city of Australia)... Hey, another good Aussie band I overlooked is "Ergot derivative". Very cool, very original...
