They update their catalog weekly (by e-mail, if you request) and as soon as I saw it, I sent off an e-mail saying I want it, and - voila! - I own it and it rules. I totally agree. I think the original is SO MUCH better than the remixes. The remixes are just there to me actually, nothing great. The 5ep is definitly worth whatever price you see it for. This is an absolutely brilliant album, possibly the best 'ambient' record I've got... it was called 'Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis', it's about an hour long and it was packaged with a limited set of Chapterhouse's 'Blood Music' when that came out. I'd never heard of Global Communications back in 1993, so it was a completely fortunate buy. Much as I like Chapterhouse, the remix knocks pieces off the original album. Mo ----------------------------------- Date: Thu, 07 Nov 96 15:59:00 GMT From: "Samuels, Mark" Subject: In Mind Right, I thought it was time I added to the 'In Mind' debate. I'm not to keen on the Bandulu version but the Reload 147 mix is great. Both, however, smell considerably when compared to the original. A work of art mate and make no mistake. On the subject of Reload, this piece is different to most of their work. Most of their early stuff is much harsher. As time progresses thought all their stuff just sounds like Global Communication (whether they're called Reload or whatever). This remix sounds like Global Communication. I can't remember who said this the other day (sorry whoever you are) but I agree, their debut album 76:53 (or whatever it's called) is one of the finest ambient works ever. Buy it. I also agree that their remix of Chapterhouse's second album (the original is probably the most disappointing album of all time) is bloody ace. Reload have also done some great remixes of Aphex Twin's stuff. The remix was done by Reload, who are tom middleton and mark pritchard aka Global Communication (among other things). This is a wonderful take of "in mind" and is completely consistent w/ the rest of their material. Global Communication did some remixing (o.k. reworking and discarding ;) of Chapterhouse's _Blood Music_, entitled _Pentamerous Metamorphosis_ that sounds *alot* like this. However, _PM_ is *very* difficult to locate, as it seems their label Dedicated put it oop after initial pressings. There was word that it was reissued, but I have not seen nary a one. ...ironic on top of ironics I read this post after I typed the above -- > For those who like the "In Mind" remixes, you might want to get a hold of > the first (and only) Reload album or the Global Communication album (Global > Comm., Reload, Jedi Knights are all the same thing). I really dig Spiritualized, but now I'm trying to move on to the Sonic Boom axis. I got the 2nd EAR album "Beyond the Pale" and found it kind of washy and boring. I like ambient music, but this was too much knob twiddling and had no point... Anyway, I'm considering buying some Spectrum stuff (I'm willing to give Kember another chance). All of Sonics albums are pretty good. There are three, Spectrum (which was actually released as Sonic Boom "Spectrum"), Soul Kiss (Glide Divine), and Highs, Lows, and Heavenly Blows. I would say the third is the best. "Then I Just Drifted Away" is one of my fav Spectrum songs. Soul Kiss is more spacey ambient stuff, but nowhere near as much as EAR stuff. HLAHB and Spectrum were never released in the US(if that's where you are), but Soul Kiss was. Ooopss, well i really love that album, i consider it is exagerately cosmic and narcotic and i love that!! > Anyway, I'm considering buying some Spectrum stuff (I'm willing > to give Kember another chance). Anybody got a recommendation on what to get? > Is the new ltd. ed. EP on Reprise any good? Well the more "poppy" are the Indian Summer ep -I'm sure you'll love this- and the Sonic's solo album, "Spectrum". Both great! "High, lows and Heavenly Blows" has some "poppy" gems on it - take your time- and some ethereal pieces too -don't pass me by- but the songs "feedback" and "then i just drifted away" -which came together- are pretty mindblowing, you must have it! "Soul kiss (glide divine)" are absolutely mindblowing too, you can't lose jewels like "sweet running water", "touch the stars" "the drunk suite", "lord i don't even know my name", etc... This album is sweetly cosmic, and of course -as anything release by anyone into the spacemen 3 family- very very narcotic... Yes, yes... i'm "fucked up child of this world" which is something i have to thank to Sonic Boom, Jason Pierce and Pete Bassman. Thanks!!!!! Regards. Wilder.
