i posted awhile ago about the re-releases...i was wondering if holding our
breath was going to be re-released...well, anyway it looks like everything
except for blue day has been re-released.  i found HOB at let it be
records in minneapolis (yay!)  they also had everything else except for
blue day on vinyl.  maybe it was re-released but it was sold out?  anyway

my band is in the process of doing a cd-ep deal thing and is in need of a
lawyer to help write out the contract... can anybody recommend anyone?
can anyone give me some advice on the situation?  

wise words of advice would be helpful... we've gone through this kind of
bureaucrap before, but we are in search of a different lawyer.

I guess it's my copy of Goteburg out circulating?! ;-) The radio
broadcast, right? I went to three shows on that tour (Gavle, Uppsala,
Stockholm, and taped them all, including one soundcheck and a small
interview). I haven't listened to them for a while, but i know
Watching the Silver Screen was played several times.

  I see...well, maybe you can help with a song . When i got

   Simon Scott..when In McCutcheon entered i think it was
   most slow ....

permanent member but then she left for "personal reasons," not that I
was very enthusiastic about her in the first place.  She was actually
reminiscent of Roger O'Donnell, to me..

we have just finished demoing new material and will be releasing 2-3

To answer some questions that some of you have answered (believe me I do
read all mail that comes to my computer but often
find mmyself typing out similair messages to people):okay here goes.

I cannot, I repeat, not help people in locating any old slowdive

Slowdive split up around three years ago now, and although I love the
records we made, it was time for us all to move. It was
time to do something very different, and Nick & Christian left because
they wanted to; and because they were bored with the
whole scene. However Neil, Ian & I decided to continue and were lucky
enough to be picked up by 4AD. Slowdive is something that is now firmlly
in the past for us. SO I can't help people in locating old records, and
there is no longer merchandise available.

Thankyou to everyone that has written in saying they have enjoyed shows
that they have seen, and a special message, yes I do still have the
cushion! Yes, we will eventually come back over to Toronto at some
point. It is one of my favourite places and the country and some people
there are very dear to my heart. It is in a way my second home. I
couldn't tell you when we will be touring oversea's ; though it will
start up when we release the album. At the moment that is set for
October time.

Meriel Barham (or whatever her name is) was never in Slowdive. There is
no connection between us and the Pale Saints.

The only side line I have ever done was backing vox on Chapterhouse's
"Pearl". I have finally started writing my own songs, so maybe you might
get to hear some on new releases. Stranger things have happened....

For the few people over in Ireland that e-mail me; I do hope that this
year we will finally come over. None of us have ever had the pleasure of
visiting before, and believe me we are eager to come over there. We have
been told many stories of the beauty.

Hello!
I am deeply sorry if I led others to believe that the sound of the Trash
Can Sinatras are similiar to Slowdive. But I will add this note -- they
have a b-side song from a 1993 single that is very brillant, and sounds
uncannily like Slowdive; the title of the song is "Skindiving" (i know
what you are thinking). 

Please lend you ears to their sounds aye. They have completed three
albums, and I am starting to believe that their third album, released in
1996, is the most marvelous. Their first album, entitled "Cake", was
quite a popular gem. It is likewise an addictive album.

the lead singer of lush.  She ended up leaving to spend more time with her

        I thought she was the lead singer of lush at one stage, and that was
where they got the name for the song 'Etheriel', meaning Ethen & Meriel.
(Ethen being her boyfriend).

find out that they cannot for an import reason. Are they only available

One way of releasing some new slowdive material would be if as many of us as
possible wrote to John Peel at the BBC asking for the Slowdive Peel Session
to be released. Many other bands have had their tracks released on CD
(Strange Fruit label), why not Slowdive?

I'm pretty new to slowdive and am trying to obtain any slowdive CDs I can.
The feeling I get after being on this list for a while is that everyone's
pretty much on their own.  That is, that there is no one reliable place to
find the CDs in America or abroad.  I'm in Southern California and have
been calling stores for the past two weeks with not a lot of luck.  Found
copies of Slouvaki, but not Pygmalion, at import prices only ($25.99).

Am I right in this assumption?  Have most of slowdive's CDs been released
only as imports in the USA?

To the oaf saying it's "A-OK" to steal previously published songs, put 
them on a CD and distribute them just because it's only going to fans: 
You display amazing feats of oligophrenia. Taking the property of others 
and giving it away as your own is most definitely in violation of 
international copyright laws. Grow a cereberal cortex.

By the way, the name of the *ASSHOLE* that's helping to scalp off the 
"slowdive rarities" bootleg CD is David Stack - he is doubtlessly one of 
the most heinous people I have ever had the extreme and intense 
displeasure to speak with. This sac of bile doesn't see any problem with 
selling the hard work and artistic integrity of the members of slowdive 
so he can make a dollar. COME ON, DAVE - do you REALLY think that we 
believe that it costs nearly $30 to record a CD-R? *GET REAL*. You are 
exploiting art for a profit, in a much more base way than any record 
company ever could. And you claim to be a FAN. Sure.

I strongly urge anyone reading this to deny Mr. Stack his coke-money by 
boycotting the garbage he's selling.

As an alternative, I suggest that those of us who HAVE these hard-to-find 
discs and a CD-ROM drive should save these tracks as MP3s, the latest 
compressed audio format from MPEG. At about 1MB per minute of stereo 
CD-quality sound, I don't think it would take long for us to have the 
entire contents of the semi-rare EPs *ON-LINE*.

In fact, I have So Tired (b-side of Outside Your Room) all ready to go as 
an MP3 at 3.7 MB.

(I also have both 5EPs, Morningrise, and their self-titled EP on compact 
disc, I could easily make all of these recordings MP3s.)

If anyone here has the b-sides of Holding Our Breath, and has the know 
how to make them MP3's, e-mail me. (agentc@flash.net)

Yes, I too suggest these songs be distributed to dedicated fans, BUT 
since these records are OUT OF PRINT and the artists can't collect 
anymore royalties, their songs should be *GIVEN* away, and not used to 
promote individual's personal interests (David Stack).

Come on, people. This is what the internet is for.

The only recordings released by a US label were Just For a Day and
Souvlaki.  All the import singles and whatnot were pretty easy to find
awhile back and I still see a few here and there.  I know the record store
I go to has Pygmalion of vinyl and an ep or two on cd.  Infact they had a
used 5ep not too long ago.  You should be able to find Souvlaki anywhere.
Though i haven't looked in awhile so maybe you can't since SBK is no
longer.  The import of Souvlaki is nicer anyway.  Check out
www.reporecords.com  That's the store i frequent and then now do mail order
I think.  They don't have a full listing but just ask em what slowdive they
have and they'll tell ya.

It is a sheer upset! I was was delighted by the groovy sounds of "COL"
that this release got me down. I do favor "Smile," but can anyone be

no, the other albums are not in the same league as "COL" (which i suppose
is Carnival of Light). They are phenomenally better. "Nowhere" is one of
the three greatest albums of all time (along with "Loveless" and s/t Stone
Roses), perhaps the best. every song on this album has at one time been my
favorite. Right now "Decay" is, especially played extremely loud with an
ear pressed to a speaker. "smile" is great as well. "Today Forever" is one
of the greatest e.p.'s ever released. "Going Blank Again" was the
transition to the horrific demise, and is merely OK. The "Leave Them All
Behind" e.p. is better to have than the whole "Going Blank Again" album.
It is shame that this band has changed so much for the worse, for they had
such potential. I saw them in Providence 1991 and my friend commented that
it was the greatest moment of his life.         Gage
