With the growing popularity of the Internet, I finally see a way to share my music with the world. I've approached a few record companies with my stuff, and the reply has always been the standard "we're sorry but" letter. I think it's wierd, because I think some of my stuff is great. But what do I know? I'm just a hobbyist...right? If you know any record company willing to distribute this kind of music, let them know about this site!

-1984

Really ancient stuff (not full songs, just snippets, to give it all some "how it started" feeling)

"Time Warp" (intro snippet)
[0.5/horrible]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Very early music experiment; check the "drums"
Comment: This early stuff is included just to get a historical feeling. Please take note of the "drums"! I had no drummachine (at all) - it's the sounds of the Swedish computer ABC80! Have you ever seen one? Have you ever heard one?

The ABC80's soundchip was more or less randomly wired, and it responded to output 7 output bits in a way that you couldn't really predict. For instance, sound nr 13 was "heavy noise" and 137 was "one shot noise". This song (snippet) uses pure ABC80 drums...

I also had a speech synthesis box to the ABC80; it's saying "time warp" in the chorus! Cute, eh?

The rest is my C64... advanced, eh?

Need I mention that my "one man band" was called Compu-M back then - which stood for "computerized music"... :-)

Available formats: Internet Wave (1:23)

"Calling Home" (intro snippet)
[0.5/horrible]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Very early music experiment; again, check the "drums"
Comment: Okay, so the pure ABC80 sound did the drums in "Time Warp". That wasnt very good now was it?

Now, I used the casette port on the ABC80 to output square-wave beeps, sent thru the audio-in jack on my Yamaha CS-5 synth. The envelope-controlled filter w. full resonance on gave it a "click" attack, and muffled the tone down to almost pure sinewave; I.e. I got a bassdrum! Different frequencies on the square wave - toms, and even "clicks"! Add on the ABC80 noise, and a "hi short tom" + sound nr 137 == snaredrum!!

I also used the speech synthesis box to the ABC80 for drums! I use the phoneme for "k" as a handclap! :-)

Available formats: Internet Wave (0:32)

"Computer"
[1.0/amusing at best]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Very early music experiment; check the "vocoder"! (it's the whole song - it's that short)
Comment: Drums - as in "Calling Home". My brother had built a homebuilt synth; Pretty primitive, with only square wave oscillators and no filter... but he had a counter wired to it, so you could mix different octaves (i.e. output bits) with knobs on the front.

Now play this synth thru a freestyle earphone, place the earphone in your mouth, and "mime" the words as you play the synth!

Voila - instant cheap-o vocoder!

1985

"Everybody"
[8.0]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A speedy synthtune with...eh...interesting lyrics.
Comment: Warning: I sing on this one, and not at all that great! Be warned... I figure that since you're not paying for this, you will have to suffer a little...

The interesting part is the lyrics; Apart from the chorus, every other line (including the strange saying in the beginning - thru a harmonizer!) are taken semi-randomly from the book "The Primal Urge" by Brian Aldiss, and the other lines are made up to match the lines from the book!

Available formats: Internet Wave (3:57)

"In A Movie"
[6.8]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Contains some mood-sequences, like movie scores
Comment: Warning: I sing on this one, and not superbly.

This is a bit inspired by a song by Yello, and some of the drum stuff is inspired by "Stockholmsserenad" by Adolphson & Falk.

It is pop-ish, but also tries to be "mood-ish" like movie music at times. It's about a gal that acts like she was in a (spy)movie...

Available formats: Internet Wave (4:01)

1986

"Far Too Many"
[8.0/need update]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Mid-eighties synthpop with a catchy chorus.
Comment: I actually sing on this one, and not all that great, but not as bad as in "Everybody". Hang in there.... I personally think this is a hit, but hey, that's just me! It needs an update, though, and I'm working on a 90's version as we speak. ..
Available formats: Internet Wave (4:33)

"See You Dance"
[6.0]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Happy tune with some latin influences in the chorus.
Comment: The standard "I sing" warning applies. Now let's have ourselves a little quiz: Can you identify the sound at the very end of the song?. If you can guess, send me a mail. Prizes for all who guess correctly!

For those of you who think the chorus sounds like "LaBamba" you are semi-right: It's the same chord progression. But I did this tune way before (the popular version of) that song was out!

Available formats: Internet Wave (4:35)

"Want To Do" (tonight)
[7.2]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: This is synthpop, pure and simple.
Comment: This was written by me and HÃ¥kan Larsson (a friend of mine). He also sings, so lord be praised, it's not me singing

The story of the lyrics is interesting. We figured, why do people go out to dance? To meet eachother, and get laid! So, lets make a song which sort of "raises the subject for discussion", and it is bound to be popular on the dancefloors, since a lot of people will get laid as a result of this song, right? Right!

We also planned another tune on the same subject that never was recorded, called "Do you wanna come home with me? (nod your head it it's yes, shake you're head if it's no)".

I still think the idea is brilliant :-)

Available formats: Internet Wave (3:52)

"Night Dancer"
[6.5]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A very very Vince Clarke-inspired tune.
Comment: It's me back at the mike again, I'm really sorry for all this singing of mine...

I always wondered what the lyrics really was about. Strange thing, this one....

It uses an actual orcestral slam (from the London Symphony Orchestra's rendition of Beethoven's fifth, the "pam" of "pa-pa-pa-pam", you know...). It sounds really lame in this one...

Available formats: Internet Wave (3:37)

"Summer Rain"
[7.8]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A lovesong to my girlfriend. Eventually I married her and we got a son, but that's another story...
Comment: If you like ballades, this is worth a listen. I sing on it, but it's not all that bad.

"Captain Jackson"
[8.2]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A tragic story about how Captain Jackson returns from a 100 year deep space exploration mission, only to find that earth....
Comment: I miss the lyrics at one place, but who cares? Remember, this is all one-take stuff, I didn't (and don't) have any multi-track recording capability, with the possible exception of doing tape-to-tape overdubbing. That's why you let small glitches like this one pass...
Available formats: Internet Wave (5:45)

"The Infernal Machine"
[6.4]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: "His name was Dr Faust, was not a wealthy man, he wanted gold to fill his greedy hands..."
The dragic story of a pact with the devil. An upbeat metal trash song.
Comment: This song was inspred a bit by "Scraping Featus off the wheel". It contains powerdrill samples, metallic drums, e.t.c...
Available formats: Internet Wave (3:44)

"Hallucinations" (pictures in my head)
[7.0]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: The pop lovesong feeling is nearing totality on this one!
Comment: One of many songs for which Vince Clarke inspired me. Pardon the cheesy spoken intro in a lovesick voice... but I'm not ashamed. Not any more...
Available formats: Internet Wave (3:06)

"Unreliable" (never trust a girl that's smiling)
[7.6]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Tragic love ballade, sung for someone with a very broken heart. Sob, sob...
Comment: Slight inspiration from Depeche Mode's "sometimes", but the only thing left in there is perhaps the constant "two interchanging semitones thru the whole thing" melody...
Available formats: Internet Wave (5:30)

"I don't care" (come little baby)
[6.8]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: This is synthPOP if nothing else! Octave-arpeggio bass and all!
Comment: This is one of many Vince Clarke inspired tunes. It's farily overly-naive, but hey, I was in love, and it was ten years ago, OKAY?
One fun thing is the scissor sample... you see, I told a friend I would play "sax" on my next tune - and "sax" in Swedish also means scissor. Oh, I kill myself... <g>
Available formats: Internet Wave (4:43)

"Heads or Tails"
[7.2]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Screw tragedy, love and cuteness, lets go heavy again. Love me or get lost. Deal with it, bitch...
Comment: A fairly good one, in my humble opinion. Some strange taped radio in the background. I don't know what it is really.... but it fits nicely in the song, don't you think?
Available formats: Internet Wave (4:33)

1987

"Curse of the Pharao"
[8.1]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Heavy synth ballade with up-beat chorus kind of thang...
Comment: This was written way back in 85, but this is one of the later recordings of it (and one of my few songs that I've done several versions of)

One major inspiration to this is the song "Blasphemous rumours" by Depech Mode, and the layout is similar.

I think it's quite good, actually....

Available formats: Internet Wave (5:55)

"Hey Boy"
[7.8]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Sixteenth triplet bouncy rythm rules this one!
Comment: This is a cute one! Check it out!

The large crowd saying "hey boy" in the beginning is me, me, me and me, and then me and me.

Available formats: Internet Wave (3:14)

"Where is my Baby"
[6.5]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Joysynthpop! The lyrics could be deeper, but...
Comment: It's okay.
Available formats: Internet Wave (3:43)

Yes I know there is 10+ years missing here - These songs might be uploaded eventually....

1995

"The Naked Truth"
(be warned, contains nudity!)
[8.0]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A hip-hop-ish tune composed of samples from...eh...."nature films"?
Comment: Recommended, if you can handle the nudity!!
The 128kbit RA stereo version is quite an experience, and worth the 2.2 meg download!
Available formats: Internet Wave (3:41)
RealAudio (3:41)

"Funkey Record"
[6.7]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: A straigther hip-hop'ish tune, where all the "rap" is stolen from an 80's TV show, and a few other places! I.e. none of the "rappers" in this tune has the faintest clue they are in the tune at all - especially since one of the rappers is Muhammed Ali!!
Comment: If you like rap-ish hip hop, this is for you!
Available formats: Internet Wave (3:19)

"Highlander"
[7.0]

Go to rating submit area

Brief description: Techno at it's most powerful best <g>! Contains the famous "there can be only one" sample from the movie "Highlander", thus the name.

Many of the sounds are generated on a Yamaha SY77 Workstation synth.

Comment: If you like beating drums, strange sounds and orchestral bangs, this is for you. It has a jazz-ish riff near the end!
Available formats: Internet Wave (5:00)
